Blossom Hotel Houston is a six-story, full-service luxury hotel neighboring NRG Stadium, Rice University and Texas Medical Center. World-class amenities, elevated meeting and events space, and fine dining led by Michelin-starred chefs are offered in a tranquil setting at the doorstep of one of America’s most energetic cities. The property has gone above code to incorporate utility reduction improvements, such as lighting, HVAC, water reduction and high efficiency elevators. C-PACE proceeds retroactively financed previously installed conservation measures, which are expected to save the property owner nearly $1M annually, repaying the C-PACE financing in less than 25 years.
Impact
By obtaining C-PACE financing, the property owner was able to upgrade the building envelope, electrical lighting, HVAC, domestic hot water, plumbing and elevators, which enabled Harris County to further its sustainability and economic development goals while reducing demand on the Texas electrical grid. The improvements are expected to reduce annual energy usage by 35% and annual water usage by 34%.
